Kidarite Huns - gold dinar, (c. 340-345 AD), scyphate flan, struck in the name and type of Varhran of the Kushano-Sasanians during the reigns of Yasada and Kidara, Goebl-737, 7.15g. Obv: king standing left, wearing crown with lotus blossom, sacrificing over altar to left and holding trident, with filleted trident to left, Kidarite tamgha to right, Bactrian legend BAGO OARAERANO OOZORKO KOShANO ShAEO ("Lord Varahran the Great, Kushan king"). Rev: traces of deity standing facing, with flaming hair, holding wreath and trident, bull standing left behind. |
