Ancient Central Malwa, Vidisha region - uniface uninscribed copper punch-marked coin of post-Mauryan period, (c.250-200 BC), not listed in PAIC, 6.41g. Obv: five punches - 1. River with fishes and turtles, 2. Ornate Shrivatsa over a pedestal, 3. Triangle-headed standard surmounted on a three-arched hill, 4. Tree-in-railing and 5. Composite 'Ujjain' symbol, with small 'Ujjain' symbols within each orb, and superimposed on a taurine-ended cross. Rev: a bold 'lotus' symbol. |
