Western Chalukyas of Kalyani, gold punch-marked gadyana of Someshvara II Bhuvanekamalla (c.1068-1076 AD), of 'temple' type, unpublished so far, 4.46g, W: 24 mm; H: 24.17 mm. Obv: In centre, an elaborate punch consisting of an architectural temple motif, with Kannada letter Shri beset in the finial (Kalasha) and Kannada legend Bhuvane / ka Malla in two lines in the sanctum. The central punch is surrounded by eight punches of a stylized scroll-like device. Rev: Blank. |
