Kakatiyas of Warangal, gold punch-marked heavy gadyana, repousse fabric, attributed to period of Prola I (c.1052-1076 AD), 5.79g. height: 58.83mm, width: 58.19mm. Obv: in centre, frontal figure of a four-armed deity struck from a single die; eight punches around - 2 x two Kannada 'Shri', 4 x stylized lion facing right, 1 x Kannada legend Ahita Gaja, 1 x Kannada legend Kesari. Along the border, 14 punches - seven lotus symbols alternating with seven 'boar facing right, sun and moon above. |
