Nolambas of Nolambavadi, Nanni Nolamba (969-975 AD), gold punch-marked gadyana, 3.72g, broad flan, 30mm. Obv: 5x Symbol punches of Nandi (the humped bull recumbent to left, Sun and Crescent above), 2x Legend punches of “Sri” inscribed in Kannada within a beaded border, 1x Legend punch “Lenkka” retrograde inscribed in Kannada, 1x Symbol punch of “Elephant Goad with battle axe”. An additional legend punch with “No” inscribed in Kannada, which is the initial of word "Nolamba" and it is very rare in this coin. Slight crack in elephant goad punch. |
