Rashtrakutas (?)/Coastal feudatories - uninscribed gold gadyana, (c.900-1000AD), unlisted in any publications, 4.67g. Obv: an elaborate temple with Dravida/Phamsana style architecture, with two flags on the Shikhara and Sun and star on either side of the finial. Rev: a ceremonial archway enclosing two Yali (mythical lion) figures, each with elephantine snouts and goat's horns, fighting each other. The side also bears an undeterminable countermark. |
