Imperial Cholas, base gold ½ Kahavanu attributed to Virarajendra Chola (1062-1070 AD), unpublished in major sources and unique so far, 2.37g. Obv: Dynastic emblem of the Cholas, strung bow, tiger seated, pair of fish, lamp-stands, Chhatra and flywhisks (Chauris), with Nagari legend Sri Vira Ra / jendra in two lines below. Rev: Garuda seated frontal and cross legged, holding two lotuses in hands, on a lotus-like seat, flanked by two royal sceptres and an umbrella with a fish and Sankha shell above. |
