Gupta Empire, Chandra Gupta II (375-415 AD), Gold Dinar of 'Lion Slayer' type, Altekar Class II (lion trampler), Var. G, 7.60g. Obv: King wearing short dhoti, shooting an arrow, the string pulled to his ears, into the mouth of a lion with a strung bow, while trampling it on the belly with one foot. Rev: Nimbate goddess, seated in profile on a lion facing left. She holds a lotus in one hand while resting the other on the lion's rump; Brahmi legend Simhavikrama to the right. Estimate
