Gupta Empire, Chandra Gupta II (375-415 AD), Gold Dinar of 'Lion Slayer' type, Altekar Class II ('lion trampler'), Var. F, 7.77 gm. Obv: King wearing short dhoti, standing three-quarters frontally with one leg flexed at the knee, shooting an arrow with a strung bow into the mouth of a lion with, while trampling it on the belly with one foot. Rev: Nimbate goddess, seated frontally on a lion facing left. She holds a lotus in one hand while scattering coins with the other; Brahmi legend (Si)mhavikra… to the right and Tamgha in the left field. Estimate
