Kashmir, Base Gold Dinara of Meghavahana, c. 500-600AD, 7.45g, unpublished and of historical importance. Obv: Shiva, shown nimbate, wearing dhoti and an upper body garment (uttariya) standing in classical 'Tribhanga' pose, holding a trident with banners attached to its shaft in his left hand and a divine fruit in his right hand. A majestic tiger, shown lifting his head to have a vision of Shiva's face, as it walks behind him. Brahmi legend, reading anticlockwise outwards, visible between 11 and 9 o'clock - Shri (Meghava...). Rev: Goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated in full frontal cross-legged posture wearing flowing dress, uttariya, and jewellery; a lotus in her left hand and a flower (jewel) in her right hand. To her left, a conch-shell (Shankha) on a floral pedestal, and a vase (Kumbha) resting on the top of the lotus in her left hand. Brahmi legend Jaya below the lotus in her hand. Estimate
