Indus Valley Civilization (mature phase, 2500-2000 BC), gold ornamental diskette, a big round punch bevelled on reverse of diskette, to be strung into a necklace; 4.44g; 30.90mm.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
A large hoard of such diskettes was found in May 2000 at Mandi in Muzaffarnagar district, Western Uttar Pradesh. The hoard was contained in two bronze containers and included many varieties of spacer beads, hollow terminal beads, single and double bell-shaped beads, and thin circular diskettes, similar to this one. The technique and method of its manufacture are a testament to the skills and metallurgical knowledge of the Indus Valley Civilization.

Obv: Four symbols in ABBC configuration - 1. Star of David, 2. Four lunettes around a dot, 3. and 4. Two ‘Treskelis’ symbols. Rev: Three small bankers' marks (Sun, wheel and a concentric orb) & traces of an undertype.
