Indus Valley Civilization (mature phase, 2500-2000 BC), group of 6 gold rings/disks, to be strung into a necklace and possibly used for trade as primitive money, said to have been recovered from excavations at Harappan sites, weighs 0.93g in total; 4.82mm approx.
Extremely fine, Rare.
A large hoard of disks similar to these were found in May 2000 at Mandi in Muzaffarnagar district, Western Uttar Pradesh, attributed to the Indus Valley Civilization (mature phase). The hoard was contained in two bronze containers and included many varieties of spacer beads, hollow terminal beads, single and double bell-shaped beads, and thin circular diskettes.

Although the coin is uninscribed, its attribution to the Datta-group of kings at Tripuri is certain from the stylized Swastika symbol on obverse. Although the 'standing human figure' was a hallmark symbol for Tripuri, it is unusual to see it on both sides.
