Graeco-Bactrian Kingdom - cupro-nickel triple unit of Euthydemos II (c.185-180BC), BN serie 6B, 11.23g. Obv: Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev: Tripod in centre, Greek legend BASILEOS to right, EUTHIDEMOU to left and a monogram to inner left; corrosion on both sides.
Very fine, Very rare.
The unusual metallic composition (with presence of Nickel in the alloy) is also seen in coins of Pantaleon and Agathokles, who were successors of Euthedemos II, the 'boy king'. Triple units in his cupro-nickel series are extremely rare.
