Copper
Early medieval Maharashtra, Khandesh region, 'bull' type alloyed copper coin of 'Vishnukundin' fabric, attributed to a local Rashtrakuta dynasty (c.600-700 AD). 0.89g. Obv: Bull standing facing right, horizontal Brahmi letter Shri and lotus / sun symbol above. Rev: Kalasha (vase) placed on a pedestal with two lampposts flanking it.
Extremely fine, Rare.
The coin is double struck on reverse and also shows a ghost image of the 'Shri' on obverse. Most likely it was a brockage (Lakhi) coin which was then restruck to correct the error in striking.

Copper
Early medieval Gujarat, post-Gupta period, unattributable copper coin following Western Kshatrapa/Gupta typology, (600-700 AD), unpublished in major sources, 4.18g. Obv: Facing bust of king, wearing elaborate crown. Rev: Indistinct symbol (Sankha?) in the centre, surrounded by illegible Brahmi legend.
Very fine, Rare.
The most likely attribution for this coin is one of the many medieval 'Rajput' dynasties, like local Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas or Chapotkatas of Gujarat who were feudatory to the imperial Gurjara-Pratiharas. The execution of a facing portrait is exceptional and unique in medieval numismatic art.

Copper
Early medieval North Maharashtra - alloyed copper coin of 'Vishnukundin' fabric, attributed to Harishchandra dynasty of Nasik-Khandesh area, king Bhogashakti (c.700-720 AD), unpublished in any sources, highly unusual and rare type, 1.78g. Obv: Roaring lion in 'Vishnukundin' type, facing right. Rev: Elephant facing right; Brahmi legend Shri Bhoga above.
Extremely fine, Extremely rare.
Bhogashakti is known from two sets of copperplate grants found in the village on Anjaneri, near Trimbakeshwar. Both are now in the collection of the IIRNS, Nasik. It is evident from the inscriptions that the family name of Bhogashakti was 'Harishchandra' and his alias was 'Prithivichandra'. No coins of this dynasty were known and the find of this coins takes our understanding of the numismatic landscape of medieval Maharashtra a step further.

Copper
Early medieval Gujarat, 'fish' type copper coin with inscription that possibly reads 'Shri Bhogamati', unattributable to any particular king or dynasty (700-800 AD), 0.40g. Obv: Fish to right within dotted border. Rev: A trident in centre with Siddha inscription, tentatively read as Shri Bho/ga ma ti on either side.
Very fine+, Very rare.
Bhogavati or Bhogamati was the name of a mythological city situated on the river Sarasvati. In medieval times, it came to be associated with a city located in the region of the Gulf of Khambayat. Coins with similar legend are also known in other types and they might be feudatory issues of a dynasty that was in charge of this region.

Copper
Early medieval Gujarat, Rashtrakuta period, unattributed copper coin, (700-800 AD), unpublished in major sources, 2.84g. Obv: Anthropomorphic Garuda running to right, clutching a snake in his hands. Rev: Trident in the centre; traces of proto-Nagari legend …vi/ti on left and di(tya) on the right.
Very fine+, Very rare.
The depiction of Garuda suggests a plausible attribution of the coins to Rashtrakutas of Gujarat or their feudatories. The legend on the reverse is incomplete but the '-aditya' ending suggests a king from a 'Rajput' solar lineage might have been responsible for the coin's issue.

Rashtrakutas?, uninscribed coin in alloyed copper, 'Central Maharashtra' region, unpublished in major sources, 2.13g. Rev: Conch shell with an animal-like figure (snake?) emanating from it, partly seen.
Extremely fine, Extremely rare.
The attribution of the coin to the Rashtrakutas may be substantiated from its fabric and weight, after comparing with similar coins bearing the names of early Rashtrakuta rulers. The depiction of Lajjagauri is unique to this series and perhaps the only unequivocal depiction of the icon on Indian coins known to date.
