Awadh (oudh) Claude Martin, silver medal, 18.93g. Obv: Portrait bust of king, legend LABORE / ET / CONSTANTIA around. Rev: In an ornamental cartouche, arms of Claud Martin?, below on two scrolls LABORE AND CONSTANTIA.
Unpublished in major publications, Extremely rare.
After having deserted, the Frenchman Claude Martin entered the English army of the East India Company. He has become major general in 1796 as well as superintendent of the nabob of Oudh. He builds up an immense fortune which he bequeaths upon his death to create schools for the poor people.

Extremely fine, Rare.
The medal was instituted by Sultan Sayyid Hamad bin Thuwani in 1896 and awarded to officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the Sultan's armed forces. Clasps were awarded for specific battles and campaigns, including Pumwani, Jongeni, Takaungu and Mwele.
