Akbar completed his first conquest of Gujarat in 1573 with the provincial capital based at Ahmedabad. However, for the first few years of Mughal rule, other mints in the province namely Malpur and Patan, a.k.a. Anhilwara (known to Mughal historians by its Islamic variant name 'Anharwala' or 'Nahrwala'), produced coins so that the new regime could achieve effective assimilation of the newly acquired province into the Mughal monetary system. The products of these mints also served to produce money for Mughal troops of occupation and further conquest into Kathiawad.

Copper
Akbar (1556-1605 AD), copper dam, Kora mint, Farwardin month, fish mint mark, Ilahi year 41, 20.58g.
About extremely fine, Extremely rare mint in copper.
Kora is one of the rarest mints for copper coins of Akbar, with less than five pieces known so far. They are all struck in the same year/month suggesting a one-off issue. The mint-name on the coins is written as 'Kurah' and in line with some other mints located on a river, like Kalpi, they bear a 'fish' mint-mark.
