Nandi was the lanchhana (dynastic emblem) of the Nolambas, who thrived as feudatories to the Rashtrakutas in 9th and 10th century AD. Even though the coin is uninscribed, it might well be attributed to Mahendra I Nolamba Narayana (875-897AD) who was a celebrated Nolamba ruler.

Silver
Abhiras of Bhambhagiri (Bhamer in Khandesh, Northern Maharashtra), Lakshmideva (1200-1250 AD), silver tara, unpublished in major sources, 0.21g. Obv: Warrior running to right. Rev: Representation of sun and moon, Nagari letter La and Kannada numeral 2.5.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
The attribution of this silver coin to Abhira king Lakshmideva is on the basis of a unique gold punch-marked coin offered in Oswal Antiques auction no. 50, lot 12. The central punch on the gold Gadyana is the same as the main device on this coin, a running warrior. The letter 'La' is engraved in exactly the same style as on the gold coin which sported a fuller legend 'Shri Lakshmi'. Lakshmideva, the Abhira king of Bhambhagiri (identified with present-day Bhamer in Khandesh) is mentioned in inscriptions of king Ramachandra of the Yadava dynasty of Devagiri, as one of the rulers who his father king Singhana had defeated.

A coin of this type was first brought to notice in 'Numismatic Panorama: Essays in Memory of late S M Shukla' (eds. K K Maheshwari and B Rath) by Dhiren Gala and Girish Veera. Since then many other Vaghela coin types have been discovered but this is only the second instance of a 'Kalasha' type coin turning up.

Copper
Alupas of Coastal Karnataka and Udipi, copper cash, attributed to Kulasekhara Alupendra (1335-1346 AD), not published in major sources, 1.33g. Obv: Pair of fish separated by a lamp stand/standard, sun and moon above. Rev: Kannada letter Dha and Ankush (elephant-goad).
Very fine+, Very rare.
This is probably the first copper cash coin attributed to the Alupas. The choice of the dynastic emblem of fish pair and the letter 'Dha' on the reverse makes the attribution pretty certain. Well-known gold Gadyanas of the Alupas bear the legend 'Pandya Dhananjaya' on reverse and here, most likely the letter 'Dha' stands for 'Dhananjaya'.
