Gold
Kadambas of Hangal, Gold Punch-marked Gadyana of Kirttivarman II (1165-1175 AD), 3.74g. Obv: Ten punches - 4 x lion to right, 2 x Kannada letter 'Sri', 1 x Nagari legend 'Kirtti', 1 x Nagari legend 'Veera', 1 x a human figure riding a horse/buffalo in centre.
Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare.
The attribution of these coins to the Kadamba king Kirttivarman II of Hangal is tentative. One coin attributed to this ruler has been published but it bears the word 'Kirtti' stamped twice and the central punch is of Yama, the God of death riding a buffalo. These coins are very similar in design to the published coin, but the legend as well as the nature of the central punch are different.

Gold
Chahmanas of Ranathambhor, Hammira Deva (1581-1301 AD), Gold Half Tanka, 5.5g. Obv: Nagari legend Raja Sri Jaita See Deva Pree. Rev: Nagari legend Raja Sri Hamira Deva Karapitasa 43. Apart from this specimen, only one other specimen is known to exist.
Extremely Fine, Exceedingly Rare and Unpublished.
Hammira Deva was the last ruler of the Chahmana dynasty of Ranathambhorand a descendent of the famous Prithviraj Chauhan. During first 12 years of his reign, Hammira Deva fought 17 battles and won 13 of them. He annexed Malwa, Abu and Mandalgarh and extended his kingdom to such an extent that he became a rival to Alaud-Din Khalji, the Sultan of Delhi. The Sultan was victorious in 1301, after several campaigns, in a bloody siege in which Hammira Deva was killed.
The legend on this coins means names Hammira Deva as its 'creator' and as the 'beloved son' (Pree = Priya) of his father Jaitra Simha. It bears the date Sa(mvat 14)43 which equals to c.1285 AD. It is possible that it was struck as a commemorative for a campaign victory. The fact that Hammira had issued gold coins is corroborated by the demand of 10,000 gold coins made from him by the invading Islamic army in 1299.
