Copper
Vidarbha, Uninscribed die-struck Copper coin of Pre-Satavahana period, (c. 200-150 BC), 5.27g. It perhaps had a symmetric counterpart to the right of the railing, which has gone off the visible flan. Rev: Indistinct.
Very Fine, Rare.
Elephants lustrating with water-pots usually accompany the goddess Lakshmi, to give us the famous icon of 'Gaja-lakshmi'. Here the deity is unusually replaced with a symbol - an arrow-head within a railing. Similar symbol has been encountered on a seal found in excavations at Adam, with Brahmi inscription identifying it to be of 'Asika' locality
