Ancient Tamil Nadu, Chola dynasty, uninscribed die-struck copper coin ascribed to the 'Sangam Age' (c.150-50 BC), not listed in MCSI, 4.82g. Obv: symbolic configuration - tree in railing in centre; to left, elephant facing right, to right, arched hill; Shrivatsa above, crescent with taurines to its left and a six-armed symbol to right. Rev: lion with raised tail, facing right, in a double ornamental border of taurines and rayed rectangle.
