Samatata region, Gold Dinar of Virachandra, the king of Arakan (c. 575-580 AD), ECB SAM9.2, 5.71g. Obv: Stylised representation of a nimbate 'archer' type king, holding bow in one hand and arrow in the other, with a crudely executed 'Shankha' standard in the backdrop; Brahmi letter Shri to the left of the king's head and legend Vira / Chandrah(with Visarga added) in two lines below the hand holding the bow. Rev: Stylised female figure standing holding a ball-like object in her hand, and curvilinear drapes behind her back; legend in the right field.
