Venetian blinds are a stylish and functional option for your home, but if they're not cleaned regularly, they can become coated in dust pretty quickly.
Like cleaning an oven or removing a stain, dusting is one of those jobs where the longer you put it off, the harder it gets. Plus, the dust from your blinds can drift into the rest of your room, which is the last thing you want!
We asked our experts for their top tips for cleaning venetian blinds — here's what they told us.
Dusting is tedious, we know! But regularly going over your blinds will save you time and effort when it comes to a deep clean.
To get rid of excess dust from the surfaces, all you need is a cloth or feather duster. Work your way across the panels, making sure you clean them one by one to get rid of as much dust as possible. There are also specially made blinds cleaners like this Lakeland brush that can speed up the process. Don’t forget about the other sections such as the handles and strings.

If you notice your blinds have become stained, use this simple home remedy to remove them:
GHI Tip: Don't use liquid to clean real or fake wooden blinds or you may permanently stain or even distort them. Instead, stick to a light dusting and make sure you check with your manufacturer as to which products would be most suitable.
To deep-clean your blinds, you’ll have to completely remove them from their fitting (check with the manufacturer if you're not sure how). A deep clean probably isn’t suitable for wooden blinds as the grain can swell.
